Senior Network Engineer

Provides innovative and highly complex technical support functions related to the installation, customization, testing, and debugging of local and wide area enterprise networks; assists in monitoring network performance and responds to the more complex service requests to resolve platform and service performance disruptions; provides technical direction to network staff on a project-by-project basis.

Typical Duties

  • Provides complex technical support related to the installation, customization, upgrade, and maintenance of network systems, including LANs, WANs, internet, security, load balancers and wireless.
  • Troubleshoot enterprise routing and switching environments, virtual private networking (VPN) and wireless networking.
  • Monitors and evaluates the technical performance of network systems including, but not limited to, speed, capacity, and latency using a variety of diagnostic tools.
  • Evaluates, installs, customizes, optimizes, and monitors network hardware and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, DHCP.
  • Implements and maintains configurations in firewalls, routers, switches, Virtual Private Network (VPN) appliances and communications circuits.
  • Installs and uses systems management software to monitor network activities at multiple sites.
  • Collaborates with network engineers, security engineers, and other technology peers on the development and implementation of processes and procedures, needed for maintaining and support network infrastructure.
  • Prepares reports, training materials, and other materials related to network systems.
  • Creates and maintains documentation related to daily activities, network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
  • Attends and participates in project planning meetings to gather network related to requirements.
  • Support end user support and application teams with advanced troubleshooting where necessary.
  • Participate in on call rotation.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • Principles of local and wide area network design, development, implementation, and administration
  • Network systems, protocols, and standards such as: TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, NAT, IPSEC, OSPF, and BGP
  • Network security and access control such as Firewalls, access control lists (ACL) and Virtual Private Network (VPN)
  • Fault isolation, testing procedures, and network mapping and diagramming tools
  • Network management, network availability, and monitoring tools
  • Methods and techniques of technical documentation and record keeping
  • Knowledge of working in a multi-platform environment spanning multiple locations

Ability to:

  • Install, customize, test, and debug a variety of network systems
  • Monitor network performance and security and devise innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Modify and implement network software configurations
  • Analyze network systems problems and devise solutions
  • Utilize diagnostic test procedures and tools
  • Write complex technical specifications and network diagrams, and other technical reports in understandable terms
  • Meet established priorities and schedules
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with professional standards
  • Actively contribute to a culture of constructive collaboration and innovation with colleagues
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and satisfaction
  • Provide guidance to staff assigned to projects
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with IT teams, network users, and vendors
  • Keep current on emerging/new technologies and industry standards through educational opportunities, research, professional affiliations, and personal networking

Education and Experience:

Five to eight years of recent professional-level experience in the installation and maintenance of an enterprise environment. Qualifying experience must have included the management of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, SD-WAN and wireless technologies. Experience in multi-vendor and retail IT is desirable.

Bachelor of Computer Science, Cisco CCNP or firewall certification in Palo Alto or Checkpoint management is highly desirable.

Residing in Queretaro. Hybrid working. Not a remote position
