Petco Medical Leadership Team

Shelly Ferris, DVM, Petco Chief Veterinarian, West
"At Petco, Vetco Total Care hospitals and Vetco Vaccination Clinics, a common mission drives us: to improve the lives of pets, pet parents and each other. I work to ensure our veterinary teams' voices are heard and that they have the support they need to provide the very best veterinary care possible to pets in their communities."
After graduating from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002, Dr. Ferris joined a national veterinary network as an Associate Veterinarian. As she became more engaged in the business and people-management aspects of veterinary medicine, she took on the role of Chief of Staff. Dr. Ferris then served as a Medical Director for over a decade, during which she was named Medical Director of the Year twice, before progressing to Director of Veterinary Quality.
Dr. Ferris joined Petco as Regional Medical Director in 2019 and now serves as Chief Veterinarian, West, where she excels as a dedicated advocate for veterinary wellness and autonomy. She's been a recipient of the Preventive Care Award and the Pawsability Award for Helping to Keep Pets and People Together. She takes pride in how Petco, Vetco Total Care and Vetco Vaccination Clinics are improving work life for doctors and paraprofessionals, reducing overall stress, and creating happier, healthier hospital teams.

Dr. Silva joined Petco in 2020 and has progressed from Area Medical Director to Regional Medical Director, and now serves as Chief Veterinarian, Central & East, where her dedication, expertise and passion for exceptional veterinary care continue to make a lasting impact.
