Meet Dr. Sarah Ward, Your Area Medical Director

Dr. Sarah Ward supports the greater Houston, Texas area, where she helps build high-performing medical teams, elevate standards of care, and empower veterinarians to reach their full potential through a warm, people-first approach to leadership.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Oklahoma and her DVM from Oklahoma State University. Dr. Ward spent more than a decade practicing corporate, private, relief, mobile, and high-volume veterinary medicine in Portland, Oregon, building a broad perspective on companion animal care. She was an active leader within the Portland Veterinary Medical Association and served as a facilitator for the Veterinary Leadership Experience.

In 2023, Dr. Ward returned to Oklahoma as a Hospital Medical Leader to open and grow a new Vetco Total Care hospital before relocating to Houston, Texas, as an Area Medical Director.

With more than a decade of experience in companion animal medicine and veterinary leadership, she is passionate about mentoring veterinary professionals, fostering collaborative hospital cultures, and ensuring clinical teams have the trust, tools, and support they need to deliver exceptional care to pets and their families.

Dr. Ward also enjoys planning her next travel adventure, earning new wine certifications, reading historical fiction, and knitting. At home, she is happily supervised by her long-haired dachshund, Solo, and her cat, Peanut, alongside an ever-growing collection of houseplants.
