Breaking the "Corporate Mold" with Dr. Amy Sarcinella
Partner Spotlight: Dr. Amy Sarcinella
At Vetco Total Care general practice hospitals, we believe veterinarians should have the freedom to practice great medicine while continuing to grow their careers in ways that matter to them. Whether that's developing as a leader, opening a new hospital or building stronger connections with pet parents, we're proud to support our clinicians every step of the way.
Dr. Amy Sarcinella, a veterinarian in Las Vegas, Nevada, is a great example of what's possible when you're empowered to take on new challenges. After stepping into the exciting opportunity to open a brand-new hospital, she discovered a passion for the leadership and business side of veterinary medicine - something she had never imagined for herself.
"I had never managed my own hospital or been in charge of starting a clinic from the ground up. It was an exciting new challenge that was presented to me, and I have been so thankful for the opportunity to develop the management and business side of my career in such a positive and uplifting environment."
Caring for Pets Through Teamwork
For Dr. Sarcinella, practicing great medicine is about more than treating patients - it's about building trust with pet parents, collaborating with her team and making veterinary care as convenient and accessible as possible.
When asked what she enjoys most about working at Vetco Total Care, she shared:
"I enjoy the partnership we have with the store and how we can provide more complete, accessible care for pets. I like having immediate access to nutrition, supplements and products that are often recommended during a veterinary visit, so pet parents can take them home the same day without making another trip. I also appreciate how everyone—from the store team and groomers to hospital leadership—is connected around a pet's well-being and works together to provide the best possible care."
Meeting Pet Parents Where They Are
One of the things Dr. Sarcinella values most is creating a welcoming, judgment-free zone where pet parents feel heard. By embracing a Spectrum of Care approach, she helps families make informed decisions that fit both their pet's needs and their circumstances.
"I provide a well-rounded approach to veterinary medicine for pet parents. I like giving them a range of options so they can choose the care that works best for them, even if they're on a budget. Having a flexible plan that can be adapted over time is really important, and I want my clients to feel this is a safe space to communicate their concerns and limitations."
Redefining Corporate Veterinary Medicine
Before joining Vetco Total Care, Dr. Sarcinella had assumptions about what corporate veterinary medicine would be like - assumptions many doctors share. Her experience has been entirely different though.
"Vetco Total Care really changed the game for how I viewed 'corporate' veterinary medicine. I don't feel like a cog in a machine and have been able to maintain my individuality and autonomy in how I practice medicine and treat cases."
That sense of trust has given her the confidence to continue growing while staying true to the kind of veterinarian she wants to be.
"I have had nothing but positive reinforcement of my knowledge and skills since walking in the door at Vetco Total Care. I am constantly encouraged to use my experience and training while continuing to grow and learn every day."
Dr. Sarcinella's story is a reminder that career growth and clinical autonomy don't have to be mutually exclusive. At Vetco Total Care hospitals, she's found a place where she can lead, continue learning, practice medicine her way and make a meaningful difference for pets, pet parents and her team.
