Since 1999, we’ve been guided by one single mission: to create a better world for animals and the people who love and need them. And it all begins with love. Together with our animal welfare partners, more than 1,500 Petco stores and animal lovers across the country, we're making a difference in the lives of animals.
Petco Love was founded in 1999, formalizing Petco's longstanding commitment to animal welfare. Over the years, we've served as a leader and valued partner in animal welfare, always focusing on one thing: Creating a better world for animals and the people who love and need them. In April 2021, we took the next step in our lifesaving mission and adopted a new name, Petco Love. We will continue to lead the way every day to harness the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier--and create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized.

We want every pet to have a loving home, so we help local animal welfare groups facilitate in-store adoption events at Petco locations all over the country—practically every weekend—and help find homes for almost half a million pets every year. Every year, the Pet Hero Awards, hosted by Pet Philanthropy Circle, honors the best of the best in animal welfare in an award ceremony. We are delighted to have earned the 2016 Foundation of the Year Award from Pet Philanthropy Circle for our loving work in animal welfare. Petco Love, which is funded by donations, is committed to helping pets live long, healthy and happy lives, and inspires people to see what is possible when everyone works together to help animals.
